NewsWu-Tang Clan say they didn't 'sample' Beatles after allThe Wu Tang Clan have retracted a statement they made earlier this week claiming they had sampled The Beatles song 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. "We didn't sample The Beatles, it was a replay, pardon," they wrote on their MySpace page yesterday (October 3). The band added: "The statement that we made yesterday was incorrect and we apologize for any confusion it may have caused. We DID NOT sample The Beatles...rather we did an INTERPOLATION of the classic George Harrison composition 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. "Dhani Harrison, son of George, through his friendship with the RZA, played guitar on the song and he himself helped secure the reuse license." Wu Tang Clan also announced that their version of the song, 'The Heart Gently Weeps', can be hear on Loud.com. Among the favourites to be on the list are previous winners Arctic Monkeys and Dizzee Rascal, while albums by Amy Winehouse, The Enemy, Klaxons, Maps, Candie Payne and Jamie T are also strongly tipped. Below are a list of albums that we've put together in the NME.COM office that could be in contention - let us know who YOU think should be on the list come tomorrow, and let us know if we have left any out that you think are deserving of a nod. |
